Nigerian woman sentenced to 22 years in jail for trafficking women and girls to the UK

Franca Asemota, 38, from Benin State was convicted on 3rd August at Isleworth Crown Court of eight counts of conspiracy to traffic persons for sexual exploitation, two counts of trafficking persons outside of the UK for sexual exploitation and two counts of assisting unlawful immigration.
Dozens of teenage orphans were forced into prostitution and slavery by Ms Franca using the threat of witchcraft.
Not less than 40 girls and young women were smuggled into Europe from remote villages in Nigeria after promising them jobs, education and a better life.
She then used 'witchcraft', threats and violence to force them in to the European sex trade. She was later arrested in Nigeria, extradited to the UK for trial and has now been sentenced.
